

A simplification in the style of Saul Bass of John Singer Sargent's famous painting, "Madame X" (otherwise known as "Virginie Amélie Avegno Gautreau"). I chose it because, when first painted, it drew a great deal of shock and outrage, in part because of her scandalous attire and pose but chiefly due to the pallor of her skin and the brilliant redness of the visible ear.
